Lead the Commercial Success of One of the UK's Leading Independent Timber & Panel Distributors

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and commercially driven Depot Sales Manager to join our Leicester Depot and play a key role in shaping the next phase of our growth.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for delivering the depot's sales strategy, driving profitable growth and creating a highly coordinated approach across our internal and external sales teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Director, you will have overall responsibility for the commercial performance of the depot, ensuring all sales resources are aligned behind common objectives and growth opportunities.

You will lead the depot's external sales team directly and manage the Timber and Panel Managers, who retain responsibility for the day-to-day management, coaching and development of their respective internal sales teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and deliver the depot sales strategy.
• Drive profitable growth across timber, panels and value-added products.
• Lead, coach and develop the external sales representatives.
• Coordinate major projects, key accounts and customer development plans.
• Identify and maximise cross-selling opportunities across all product categories.
• Monitor sales performance, margins and pipeline opportunities.
• Strengthen collaboration between sales, operations and purchasing teams.
• Support succession planning and talent development within the sales function.
• Maintain high levels of customer engagement and market awareness.
• Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for an experienced sales leader who can inspire teams, build strong customer relationships and deliver sustained commercial growth.

You will ideally have:

• Proven sales leadership experience within timber, panels, building materials, construction products or a related distribution environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills.
• Experience managing and developing field-based sales teams.
• The ability to analyse performance data and convert insight into action.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across multiple functions.
• A passion for customer service and building long-term relationships.
